Grandad’s Camper by Harry Woodgate

GrandadsCamper
Grandad’s Camper is a gentle story of tales shared by widower Grandad of his travels with Gramps. His granddaughter encourages him to dust off the camper and have adventures again together. It’s on my bucket list to get a camper van and this makes me want to get on with it. I was also interested to see from the press release that Harry Woodgate was inspired to write this book after their dissertation on lack of representation for older LGBT characters in children’s books.

With the vibe of the film Up, Grandad’s Camper captures the essence of loss and sadness but also the pleasures of a life well-lived.

A great starting point for parents and grandparents to share what they did when they were young, or how they met their partners, and for sharing stories of family members who’ve passed away.

Fab illustrations, but I especially love the front and back cover and the endpapers.

Now off to look for a budget camper van…
