Esme’s gran has a secret. She arrives at her gran’s house to discover Cora, a wild lynx, wrecking the front room – it’s not quite the lost domestic kitten her gran had thought she’d rescued. Callum, the supposed trouble maker from school, and Esme are then tasked with returning the lynx to its proper home in the wild forests of Rothiecraig Estate. With her loveable dog, Shug, in tow, they travel across water-filled moors and dense forests in search of Cora’s lynx family, hoping to reunite them before its too late.
Camping as they go, the wolves make their presence felt in more ways than one. Esme and Callum are not the best of friends but they must work together if Cora is to successfully return to the wild. With poachers, disgruntled farmers and things that howl in the night stopping them at every turn, will they survive the trip, set Cora free and safely make their way home?
Lindsay Littleson’s seventh novel ‘The Rewilders’ is a tense, thought-provoking story about family and finding friendship where you least expect it. But most important of all, it’s about the beautiful wild animals that roam our lands. Our wildlife is threatened by climate change and the ever-evolving changes created by the modern way of life, Lindsay’s fantastic action-packed storyline will encourage much-needed conversations about our planet and every creature that lives on it, human or otherwise, in schools and beyond.
