Stylish and thoughtful, The Haunted House by Kazuno Kohara, is a gorgeous picture book which is perfect for Halloween in particular.
Our little girl arrives at a suspicious looking old house right on the very edge of the town. Isn’t that where haunted houses can always be found?!
She soon discovers a whole host of ghosts, but luckily this little girl has few tricks up her sleeve. The story follows the little girl as she sets to work deploying each ghost in to some, urm, rather more useful positions around the house. Who knew ghosts had so many uses?!
Kohara’s distinctive lino-cut illustrative style renders this picture book a cut above the rest. The vibrant orange and black dominates each page, interrupted only by the soft white of each ghost, resulting in a retro feel to this Halloween themed book.
