Kerfuffle Bird by Helen Docherty and Gwen Millward

The Hushlings of Hushville live a very quiet life. They are all happy with that, except one.

Maeve longs to let her BIG FEELINGS out but she knows that is not the Hushlings way.

Until one day, a large blue egg appears and out hatches a Kerfuffle Bird and he’s looking for a party!

He is noisy when he eats, sings out of tune and dances to the light of the moon; nothing is calm and quiet in Hushville anymore. In fact, he creates a right kerfuffle!

When the Kerfuffle Bird keeps the Hushlings awake all night, finally they have to let all their pent-up feelings out and tell him to go.

What will happen to the poor old Kerfuffle Bird, who will  come to his rescue?

A brilliant story for discussing the joy and relief of letting your emotions out; have a party, have some fun!

I love how this is about allowing everyone to do what makes them happy.

Fabulous rhyme to read aloud!

The illustrations by Gwen Millward are full of energy and movement, bright, colourful and glorious, just like the Kerfuffle Bird and who wouldn’t love Maeve!

Thank you to Oxford University Press for the review copy.
