Pom Pom Gets the Grumps, a delightful picture book created by Sophy Henn, highlights the trials and tribulations of a toddler’s life when absolutely nothing is quite right.
Poor Pom Pom really is having one of those days. Truly. Absolutely nothing is going right. He can’t find his blanky, his breakfast juice has bits in it … his toothbrush is too scratchy … Definitely, one of those days for this little panda!
Pom Pom ‘Harrumphs’ his was through breakfast, then he ‘Harrumphs’ his way to Little Acorns where even ‘The birds were too noisy’.
Pom Pom’s little friends do their very best to help him out. They offer to include him in so many different activities but unfortunately Pom Pom’s reaction is less than generous. When he glances round and realises they have gone, Pom Pom realises his mistake and sets about putting things right with his friends.
Sophy Henn’s illustrations are wonderful bright and bold, capturing Pom Pom’s mood quite brilliantly.
Gorgeously told, with great pace, sprinklings of humour and a lovely ending Pom Pom Gets the Grumps is a thoroughly enjoyable picture book.
