The Big Monster Snoreybook

The Big Monster Snoreybook by Leigh Hodgkinson is a rather noisy picture book, filled with monster snores and giggles galore.

The Big Monster Snoreybook opens with a little lie …

‘Oh dear. I am sorry to say that you happen to be reading a very dull book.’

The narrator takes the reader past various monsters, from Brian and Tony to Jemima and Fiona. Unfortunately, they all just happen to fall asleep just as we turn the page. Oh how frustrating! The narrator ensures us they were much more exciting just a few moments ago. But now? Well those snores are certainly varied!

Eagle eyed readers will note a very tiny green monster and his recording equipment popping up on each and every page, and he always has something rather amusing to say too. Why would he be recording all those strange snores …?

An awfully loud alarm clock disturbs the huge, hungry monsters. How will our little green friend escape?? Hmm … can you guess what happens?

Leigh Hodgkinson’s illustrations portray a myriad of delightful monsters with huge monster style. Her attention to detail adds depth to the narrative, with plenty to spot on each page. Hodgkinson’s narrative is filled with onomatopoeia to capture those monster snores. A glorious monster book!
