Mango & Bambang: The Not-a-Pig (Book 1)

Mango & Bambang: The Not-a-Pig (Book 1)

Mango & Bambang is delightful, purple stripped novel which is just perfect for younger readers. Polly Faber and Clara Vulliamy have created an utterly charming, and quite unlikely duo … and you’ll soon know exactly what a tapir is too!

Mango is a young girl who lives in the middle of a very busy city. She lives with her very busy papa which means she has lots of time to become very good at many different things.

‘… Because otherwise Mango might have a been a bit lonely.’

Then, on a normal Wednesday, just a typical middle of the week type day, everything changes … when Mango rescues a tapir from the middle of a zebra crossing! A tapir. Definitely not a pig. No pigs here.

Polly Faber’s witty narrative follows this unlikely pair as their friendship develops. Together Bambang and Mango tackle the public swimming pool plus Dr Cynthia Prickle-Posset from the apartment below. They share a love of banana pancakes and a wonderful friendship.

Mango & Bambang is divided in to four short stories, which flow quite seamlessly from one to another. Clara Vulliamy’s purple and black illustrations adorn each page adding pace and energy … and a great image of Dr Cynthia Prickle-Posset!

Mango & Bambang is a gorgeous, fun filled novel with 2 fabulous new characters.
