Sun is the latest picture book from Sam Usher, beautifully complimenting Rain and Snow from the same series.

What can you do on the hottest day of the year?  A day that is,

“hotter than broccoli soup, hotter than the Atacama Desert,”

Grandad always has the answer, and Grandad always adores an adventure – so that’s exactly what they set out to do.

After gathering their provisions, Grandad and our little narrator set out on their adventure, filled with imagination. They take it in turns to be the navigator as they try to find somewhere ‘picturesque’, somewhere ‘in the shade’ and somewhere ‘with a cool breeze.’ Their search for the later takes a wonderfully surprising twist, little readers loved the big reveal and adored poring over the contents of the double page spread (no spoilers!).

Sam Usher’s Sun celebrates the adventures that are to be had when we venture outside with our little ones in a wonderful manner. All we need is a sprinkling of imagination.
