Ten Little Monsters

Ten Little Monsters

Ten Little Monsters, from Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty, is part of the fabulous Ten Little picture book series.

A counting book with fun and rhyme – this one concentrates on counting backwards from ten.

‘Ten little monsters waken from their sleep,

Blinking in the candlelight, in the castle deep,

Going trick or treating, will they frighten you?’

Be assured the ten little monsters are incredibly cute. But as they venture on their journey, a series of encounters with a range of characters from headless knights to chanting witches, mean with each turn of the page – they manage to loose one.

Ooops!

What will happen when there’s only one little monster…?

The jaunty rhyme and rhythm makes Ten Little Monsters lots of fun to read out loud, little ones hold up their hands as their learn to count down with their fingers. And then there’s the onomatopoeia words on each page which are great fun to read out loud – repeated readings result in little ones joining in with much enthusiasm!

Simon Rickerty’s illustrations are boldly fun and cheeky, with a great range of little monsters heading off on their journey. Loving those pumpkin end-papers too.

Ten Little Monsters from Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty is spook-tacular counting fun for Halloween.
