Bears Don’t Eat Egg Sandwiches

Bears Don't Eat Egg SandwichesI must confess to having a certain level of sympathy for the bear in this story – egg sandwiches? Never quite grown to love them myself.  Fortunately I don’t have a bear to feed!

Our main character Jack, from Julie Fulton and Rachel Suzanne’s Bears Don’t Eat Egg Sandwiches, does have a bear to feed.

A incredibly hungry bear!

In this hilarious narrative the lovely, patient Jack deals with a very grumpy bear. However Jack does keep forgetting Bear’s dislike of egg sandwiches, much to Bear’s annoyance. (And the joy of little listeners who like nothing better than to read out Bear’s catch phrase.)

Meanwhile Bear seems to be getting ready for a huge feast – a large plate, a big spoon – but what can Bear be planning to put on that enormous plate? Watching the penny drop on the faces of little listeners is quite something!

Fulton’s narrative takes us through hilarious twists and turns that will have you giggling over your sandwiches. I love the playful tone of Rachel Suzanne’s contemporary illustrations – that first image of Jack concentrating on making his sandwiches is just wonderful.

Bears Don’t Eat Egg Sandwiches is a real hoot!
