The Knight Who Said “NO!”

The Knight Who Said No

The Knight Who Said “NO!” by Lucy Rowland and Kate Hindley has been requested so many times already in our house.

Their picture book is all about a little knight called Ned, who starts out saying yes to everything (a parent’s dream child) until alas one day he wakes in a foul mood. And from then on, the answer is NO to everything.

He says NO to fetching the milk for Mum and NO to helping his Dad prepare for a tournament. He even refuses to run away from a dragon soaring through the night. But maybe this dragon doesn’t need running away from and in fact just wants a friend.

What will Ned the knights answer be? NO or yes? (You’ll have to read it to find out the answer!)

Kate Hindley’s illustrations are fabulous and packed full of detail. We loved studying the expressions on all of the characters’ faces.

The Knight Who Said “NO!” is very relatable to children who love to stamp their authority by saying “NO!” It’s such a fun story and a great read aloud one, thanks to Lucy Rowland’s great rhyming and rhythm.

The Knight Who Said “NO!” is published by Nosy Crow and comes with a FREE Stories Aloud smartphone audio book. This means you can scan the QR code and listen to an audio reading of the book.
