I stormed through The Worst Class in the World from Joanna Nadin & Rikin Parekh, pausing only to giggle at 4B’s antics and marvel over Parekh’s illustrations. This is LITERALLY the funniest book I’ve read this year! It’s chock-a-block full of good humour with a fabulous cast of characters. 4B are a well meaning class…
So, I’ve spent the last few days thinking endlessly about those sweet deep-fried little balls of goodness – galub jamun. And I’ve got YOU to blame for this Humza and Henry. I’ve seriously gained weight reading this book. If I do a repeat read, I’m in danger of not fitting into my seasonal party jumpsuit.…
The Adventures of Harry Stevenson (Simon & Schuster) is the first book in a new young fiction series by wonderful author/illustrator Ali Pye. It actually features two stories in one so there’s a very welcome double dose of the eponymous guinea pig hero! Harry is just an ordinary guinea pig and would be quite happy…

I’ve spent plenty of time (HOURS!) listening to pupils read as they embark on the their reading journey. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to watch them grow with confidence AND find books they…

This time Pug and his owner, Lady Miranda, are off on a seaside holiday… and straight into an adventure. First of…

WARNING: AN ELVES ONLY PICTURE BOOK REVIEW Let’s talk about stocking fillers. I’m always a bit flummoxed when online stocking filler searches offer up bulky, bank-busting suggestions. Although wonderful, a helicopter, a personalised football and an engraved child’s bracelet (with birthstone!!!) are not, to my mind, stocking fillers. Traditionally, Christmas stockings were stuffed with small…
