Bagel In Love should come with a warning, don’t read it unless you have a snack nearby! Every page is full of Helen Dardik’s scrumptious creations. Even the buildings are topped with dripping icing!
The story follows Bagel, who just loves to dance. He never feels plain when he’s spinning and swirling. He wants to enter the Cherry Jubilee dance contest, but he needs to find a dance partner. But no-one in Bakersville will be his partner. Bagel ventures to Sweet City – will he be able to find a dance partner there? Or will he have to wait until next year to enter the contest?
This is a fun story to read. It is humorous and Natasha Wing certainly loves her puns – ‘stale’ dance moves, eyes ‘glazing’ over and ‘half-baked’ dance steps are just a few examples!
Helen Dardik’s illustrations are bright and colourful, which are perfect for this upbeat text.
Bagel In Love is the perfect picture book for dance and sweet-treat fans!
