Blue Peter Books Awards 2014: Shortlist

Since 2000 the Blue Peter Book Awards have become tremendously influential.

The shortlist of 6 books, was announced live on CBBC on 5th December 2013.

The four judges have picked a wonderfully varied collection – three fiction and three non-fiction titles.

Katie Thistleton (CBBC presenter and judge) was very enthusiastic about the non-fiction books in particular, singing the praises of each of the chosen titles.

So … the chosen titles are …

Best Story

Whale Boy by Nicola Davies & Joe McLaren

Oliver and the Seawigs by Philip Reeve & Sarah McIntyre

Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell

Best Book With Facts

Marvellous Maths by Jonathan Litton & Thomas Flintham

The World in Infographics: Animal Kingdom by Jon Richards & Ed Simkims

Tony Robinson’s Weird World of Wonders: World War II by Tony Robinson & Del Thorpe

What happens now?

200 children from across the UK will vote for their favourite book, the winner will be announced on 6th March 2014, on World Book Day.

Previous winners have included Oliver Jeffers’ Lost and Found, plus Liz Pichon’s Tom Gates – Genius Ideas (Mostly).
