By The Light of the Moon

By The Light of the MoonBy The Light of the Moon, a picture book by Tom Percival, deals with the uneasiness of moving home in a most delightful manner.

Percival’s story is a magical one. Ivan is feeling sad about moving house, it just isn’t the same as his old one,

‘It was all so… strange.’

When he stares out at the moon from his new bedroom window, just like he used to do in his old room, something magical happens. A shimmer of light falls from the sky, and from that light emerges… Moji.

Moji is a happy creature, who takes Ivan on a magical night time adventure. And just before it’s time to leave, Moji leaves Ivan with the knowledge that this strange new house will soon become a lovely home, full of great memories.

Percival’s colour palette emphasises the warmth and magical tone of his narrative – the deep ink blues and soft purples convey the atmosphere beautifully.

By The Light of the Moon, is a gorgeous one to share.
