Clementine Florentine by Tasha Harrison & Mya Mitchell

ClementineFlorentine

What an enjoyable MG read!

Even the eye-catching orange cover brings the fun. Clem and school enemy Callum reluctantly join forces to ensure their respective parents who’ve started dating split up – because there’s no way Clem and Callum want to spend time together as friends, let alone as step-brother and sister. Yuk! Cue plenty of ill-fated cunning plans involving perfume, selfies, fitness regimes and, bizarrely, a dead goldfish. When Clem takes it too far, there’s luckily one more cunning poetic plan to sort it out.

Aside from the undoubted page-turning read and all the humour, it’s good to see adults showing their vulnerable side – Dad back on the dating scene and an ageing punk icon who’s been hiding away from life and needs coaxing from her house by Clem.

A very pleasing cross between Tom Gates and Clarice Bean which will delight young readers and have them hooting with laughter.

Looking forward to more of Clem and the eccentric cast of characters.
