I Saw Anaconda by Jane Clarke and Emma Dodd is a fun new picture book, with lovely rhyme and a rather funny adventure… oh and lift-the-flaps on each page too!
Our intrepid explorer spies an anaconda, and just like the Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, he has a penchant for swallowing other animals. With great rhythm, it all starts with a tick,
‘It made her tummy hop and kick! Will she be sick?’
Turn the page and he spies her swallowing a skink to catch the tick. Lift the flap on anaconda’s head to reveal the growing menagerie and the fab words that complete the rhyme.
Well poor anaconda, as you might have guessed, does end up swallowing quite the collection of animals including a ‘gator’. I can only leave you to ponder what happens to our little narrator… and was the anaconda sick? Well, let’s just say there’s a rather fun pop-up on the final page!
I Saw Anaconda by Jane Clarke and Emma Dodd is full of squirmy fun, perfect rhyme and fabulously bold illustrations.
