I, Spy by Rhian Tracey

When World War II begins Robyn’s world changes forever. Her dad works at Bletchley Park and it’s not long before she starts to wonder who all the new arrivals are through its impressive iron gates. Secrets whisper around the corridors only adding to the feeling that all is not what it seems. Given the task of helping with the carrier pigeons that send messages to the allies, Robyn has to sign the Official Secrets Act which makes her even more wary.
No longer allowed to leave the grounds due to the war now raging outside the park’s perimeter, Robyn and her friends, Ned and Mary, try to uncover the sinister goings on before it’s too late. Is there a spy walking the halls of Bletchely Park? They’re going to need all their courage to get to the truth!
Rhian Tracey has written a fantastic mystery based within the famous park known for its involvement in the war, as well as the place where the incredible code breaker Alan Turing vested his time. A poignant nod to the darker times of war, Robyn’s world comes to life through the enticing chapters which also greatly acknowledge the role women played during those hard times. Based on the life of her great aunt who worked as a code breaker, Rhian has preserved her memory in a beautiful and heart-warming story of friendship and courage. David Dean’s cover and illustrations encapsulate it all with his stunning design and colours.
