The Lost WordsFor older readers, Moonlocket by Peter Bunzl, a rollicking good adventure that shouts “classic” from the very first page. I loved it.

For younger children, it has to be The Lost Words by Robert MacFarlane and illustrated, magnificently, by Jackie Morris.

She is one of our greatest living illustrators and she was born to paint these word spells into life.

It’s an important celebration of language, life and nature, and it’s superb.
