Kangaroos Hop

Kangaroos HopKangaroos Hop is a delightfuly simple and enjoyable story from Australian author Ros Moriarty.

Kangaroos Hop is a fun, progressive tale featuring iconic Australian animals as they make their journey to the water’s edge. “The kangaroos hop” start this off on the opening page, only to be joined by another animal at the turn of each page, thus culminating in a delightfully fun, long list of great Australian animals.

Each animal is introduced with a great verb expertly capturing the nuances of the individual animals,

“the echnidas shuffle

the butterflies dance”

The repetition on each page is great for a young audience who just love to join in, especially with the calling out each of the verbs!

Kangaroos Hop - InsideThe illustrations, straight from the Balarinji studio, beautifully imply the movement described in the text. Set against the white background the vibrancy of the brightly coloured animals is perfect for a younger age group. As with Ten Scared Fish, a Yanyuwa translation is provided at the end of the book so you can enhance your own linguistic skills.

A proportion of income from sales of Kangaroos Hop supports indigenous pre-school literacy through Indi Kindi, www.nangalaproject.org.au
