King Pig

King Pig

Now we are, unashamedly, big fans of Nick Bland.

King Pig goes off on a different tangent to the beloved cranky bear, and it’s pretty awesome.

With a big dash of humour, and a great lesson on friendship, I just know Nick Bland’s latest picture book is going to be a big hit.

King Pig’s kingdom consists of plenty of sheep. King Pig has everything he could wish for … but … that niggling feeling that the sheep, well, don’t actually like him just won’t disappear.

‘They never listened properly,

no matter how loudly he shouted.’

Nick Bland, through the narrative and some cheeky illustrations, provides the reader with plenty of clues as to why King Pig isn’t doing the right thing by his loyal sheep.

I love that this picture book has a nicely developed storyline, following King Pig as he makes a huge, albeit misguided, attempt to ingratiate himself.

Beautifully quirky illustrations fill the pages, with plenty of details to justify plenty of repeat readings.
