Never Tickle A Tiger is the latest picture book creation from Pamela Butchart and Marc Boutavant.
Never Tickle A Tiger features Izzy, Izzy is a girl who simply can not stop,
‘shuffling and jiggling,
squirming and twitching,
wriggling and fiddling.’
Yep, this is a girl who just can’t sit still – she jiggles the jelly at parties, knots her Granny’s knitting, plays with her peas … it really is a brave teacher who takes Izzy and her class to the zoo for a day trip.
Izzy’s wriggling antics continue in the zoo, and most of the animals are really quite tolerant. But. Izzy fails to head Miss Potterhurst’s sternest warning … ‘Never tickle a tiger.’ A glorious fold out centre page, unveils the consequences of such action as chaos ensues and Izzy is forced to put things right.
Never Tickle a Tiger is filled with energy and humour. Butchart’s narrative has a lovely tone. Gorgeous word choices (including ‘pandemonium’!) and a fabulous pace make this great fun to read out loud. Boutavant’s illustrations are wonderfuly joyful, capturing Izzy’s energy perfectly.
Never Tickle a Tiger is a must before embarking on a trip to the zoo!
