None the Number: A Hueys Book

I do love it when a new Oliver Jeffers’ picture book is pushed through my letter box. I admit to being more than a little curious when I saw those fabulous characters, the Hueys, were now delving in to the world of counting. Too cool.

Introducing … The Hueys in None the Number!

‘Is none a number?’ is the question asked on page 3, and forms the basis for this giggle inducing picture book.

Huey explains that none is less than 1, and goes through all the numbers to illustrate his point. With each number occupying its own page, Jeffers employs his unique imagination to illustrate each number.

7 has to be my favourite .. because well, why not!!

‘SEVEN oranges I balanced on some things yesterday.’

but then 8 is pretty funny too …

‘EIGHT party guests trying to guess the gift’

.. because come on, don’t we ALL try to do that?!

This is an author who gets the seemingly random nature of a young person’s imagination, and captures it in the most delightful manner.

None the Number is a great addition to the Huey’s adventures, a great way to reinforce the concept of numbers and … great fun!
