Alex’s latest picture book is brimming with vibrancy and fun.
I adored the illustrations he completed for My Mum Has X-Ray Vision, and have had much fun following the exploits of Claude. Primrose illustrates just how much Alex T Smith ‘gets’ his young audience.
Be prepared to have your tongue well and truly twisted with Ps aplenty on the opening pages as we discover pretty pink Primrose is very frustrated at having to be so ‘properly proper’ all the time.
Constant reminders of what a princess should and should not do are getting more than a little bit ….. BORING! From the King to the maids, the cook to the gardner, they all tell her what she can’t do …. until Grandmama is shipped in to take control of Primrose.
Pahahahaha this is a Grandmama quite UNlike any other.
Her exploits will have Smith’s young reader giggling away for sure.
I absolutely adore the illustrations that adorn each and every page … although that final one in the fountain has to be one of my favourites.
A gorgeous wash of colours, brilliantly drawn characters and vibrant endpapers provide this picture book with a suitably classy air perfect for all types of princesses!
