Puppy Academy: Scout and the Sausage Thief

Puppy Academy: Scout and the Sausage Thief

I’ve long been an admirer of Gill Lewis’ writing (Scarlett Ibis), what a delight that her words are now available for emerging readers thanks to her new Puppy Academy series, aimed at 5+ readers.

Puppy Academy is a gorgeous new series which is just perfect for those readers who have recently graduated on to chapter books.

Scout, a German Shepherd, is a member of the puppy academy, along with his many friends. They are all on the beginning of an important journey as they learn new skills, win badges and ultimately work out what direction they will be going in when they grow up!

Today is a huge day for Scout – he is eager to impress his parents and earn his Care in the Community badge. Unfortunately things don’t go according to plan – a missing teddy, a flood and the curious case of the disappearing Crunchie Munchies are just some of the obstacles put in poor Scout’s way.

Lewis’s narrative is, as ever, thoroughly entertaining and perfectly pitched for this age group. Plentiful dialogue and fabulous plot twists ensure this is a very engaging read.

Sarah Horne’s delightful illustrations add humour to the antics in … Little Barking!

Taking a different dog as the star of each book, the Puppy Academy is an intriguing series for little readers to delve in to.

Puppy Academy: Scout and the Sausage Thief is book one, followed by Star on a Stormy Mountain, Pip and the Paw of Friendship then Murphy and the Great Surf Rescue.
