Sarah Broadley – Best Book of 2017

,

Sarah Broadley, My Book Corner’s Middle Grade Specialist, selects her Best Book of 2017…

Fir For Luck - Barbara HendersonFir For Luck by Barbara Henderson is my book of 2017.

When I heard there was a book coming out about the Highland Clearances I was intrigued as it was a subject I loved to research at school. I was excited to hear that their story was being told again. Fir For Luck is one of those books that hooks you from the first page. I was enthralled with Janet’s life and the somewhat helpless situation her village was in. Her family values and personality shone through and I was so proud of what she achieved during those dark times – a true heroine written by a fantastic author.
