Rob Scotton combines his infamous character with Halloween creating another fun picture book in the Splat series.
Splat needs to come up with a Halloween costume for school. A chance encounter with a creepy crawly on his pumpkin provides Splat with just the inspiration he was looking for. However whilst everyone else’s costumes look suitable scary, Splat’s coloured socks just don’t seem to be achieving the desired effect … yet.
Scotton’s signature illustrations do not disappoint.
I love the vibrancy and textured nature of them and he has created such an expressive character in Splat.
The great use of white space ensures Splat and his friends really stand out. Deliciously bright orange end papers add to the Halloween tone culminating in an entertaining Halloween romp with just the right sprinkling of spookiness.
