Shoo! by Susie Bower & Francesca Gambatesa

Shoo

Have you noticed that cats, dogs, and even squirrels have a sense about people who don’t want them around? That your cat always goes to that one relative who is allergic? That the muddy dog jumps over the guy in white trousers? And as much as you wanted to be like a fairytale princess, surrounded by little furry friends, the squirrel will always jump on that friend who will rather scream than sing a song?

So… Mrs Golightly didn’t like animals, not one bit, and did not want them around. That goes to birds, squirrels, bears, gators, and giraffes too. Let’s see… what happens to her? Of course! A zoo moves in next door.

The noise is bothersome enough to begin with, but things start getting worse. The animals begin to party at her lawn and soon… Hey! There’s a kangaroo in the loo! Poor Mrs Golightly has to endure this herd combo of giraffes, gators, llamas, bears, gee! All invading her previously calm life. Calm…? Lonely rather? Will she really be happy when this party is gone?

The dynamic illustrations in comic-like frames make the chaos even more excitingly chaotic! I loved this book to bits, witty and full of surprises! Oh, and make sure you check the endpapers when you finish the story! I love it when illustrators add little hidden gems for us, hee hee.
