Sounds Spooky

sounds spooky

Gorgeously vibrant language and a role reversal on the typical Halloween ghost story, Sounds Spooky is a  perfect picture book for My Book Corner.

A group of three children creep stealthily in to a haunted house. However this clever picture book is told from the viewpoint of the little ghost living up stairs.

Those children make all sorts of noises as they work they way through the house, to the upstairs room, where our friendly ghost resides quaking at all those rumblings and rustlings.

Christopher Cheng employs an imaginative array of onomatopoeic vocabulary making this one a sure fire winner for literacy skills. The rhythm and rhyme create a perfect read out loud story.

Read this one with the lights out, and a just a little sliver of light peaking through! The imaginative illustrations embody dark blues and purples, emitting a suitable ghostly aura.
