
Tamsin and the Deep is an exciting graphic novel from Neil Cameron and Kate Brown. It tells the intriguing story of Tamsin who is forced to discover the reason behind her family’s terrible luck with water.
After getting wiped out when attempting to surf off the coast of England, Tamsin finds herself washed up on the beach. What she discovers is that she has actually been missing for weeks, her family have been frantic with worry.
It all starts to get even stranger when Tamsin starts to have flashbacks to her underwater ordeal, and gets accosted by a talking blackbird. She’s unsure what this all means, but, she does have a very uneasy feeling about her brother. She knows he simply must NOT go near the sea. Ever.
As Cameron’s plot twists and turns Tamsin discovers something deep and terrible in her family’s past. It’s something only she has the power to change, before history repeats itself.
Brown’s rich images fill each page. Her underwater scenes in particular are quite mesmerizing, conveying both Tamsin’s panic and the fearful, hidden world she finds herself in.
