The Twelve Days of Christmas from Alison Ritchie and Marisa Morea is joyful dog-themed Christmas fun in a neat picture book format.

The jaunty rhyme and rhythm made this great fun to read out loud. With each turn of the page, the appropriate number of dogs get up to festive themed mischief as they prepare for Christmas,

‘Along the road, a Christmas wreath

gives out a festive greeting.

but eight leaping Labradors decide it’s there for eating!’

A cute little pup pops up in Morea’s illustrations on each double age spread – much fun was had in locating him on each page turn. The illustrations are filled with energy and festive colour, and those great characters.

This may, or may not, be the next best thing when faced with the ‘puppy for Christmas’ request – but it will definitely make you smile, entertain you and will demand regular readings.
