Daria’s grandpa has a window that looks out onto the sea. Together they go on adventures among the waves, telling stories and making sandcastles. Daria knows grandpa’s not well and soon the time comes for her to squeeze his hand for the last time. A light may have gone out in her world but she has memories that will last forever.
Author Laura Gehl and illustrator Udayana Lugo have created a wonderful picture book about family, grief and everything in-between.
Sarah writes for children of all ages and lives in Scotland. She sends most of her reviewed books to Craigmillar Literacy Trust where they are distributed to local schools otherwise her house would fall down. She is a member of the SOA, CWIG, a former trustee on the board of Cymera Writing Festival and a Lead Reader for Open Book. She regularly chairs literary events for festivals and children’s book launches.
