Unicorn in New York: Louie Lets Loose!

Unicorn in New York: Louie Lets Loose! is an incredibly funny new chapter book from Rachel Hamilton, with illustrations by Oscar Armelles.

Louie the unicorn is a great character, full of wit and humour. He is a character with plenty of attitude, and truly believes that Storyland doesn’t offer the best opportunities for his myriad of talents. When a scrap of paper, advertising auditions in New York School of Performing Arts, floats through the magical forest … he knows where he should go.

It all proves a bit tricky when he arrives. Firstly he is sharing a room with a mermaid, troll and a faun. Interesting! Then there’s Arnie. He’s also a unicorn, and quite used to being the ONLY unicorn at the school thank you very much.

Hamilton’s narrative is refreshing. Original, witty and plenty of humour Louie Lets Loose! is a great read. With short chapters and a sprinkling of Armelles lively illustrations, this a great one for newly independent readers to really get stuck into.
