We Are Definitely Human by X.Fang

Three visitors turn up in the middle of the night in Mr Li’s field.

Their ‘car’ is broken and they need help to fix it but Mr Li tells them there are no stores open at this time of night.

What would you do?

Mr Li does what he feels is right, he gives them shelter.

Much to Mrs Li’s surprise she finds the visitors asleep in her living room the next morning. Eager to fit in, the visitors tell her they are ‘definitely human’ and have jobs.

At the store, everyone who meets the visitors is kind to them and soon offer to help fix their ‘car’. In no time at all, a party has started with dancing and food.

When the time comes for the three guests to leave, everyone waves them off and the visitors are left in no doubt, that humans are kind and help those in need.

A deceptively simple message told with a distinct lyrical and illustrative style, ‘We are Definitely Human’ is a super way to show how kindness can be spread far and wide.

I appreciated the humour of this story. It is a book for all ages which I am sure adults will enjoy as well as younger readers.

One to read over and over again. The story pops into your mind long after you have finished reading it.

Quirky, unique and  fun!

X.Fang’s debut book, Dim Sum Palace was the winner of the 2023 Society of Illustrators’ Dilys Evans Founder’s Award.
