Yirra and her deadly dog, Demon

Yirra and her deadly dog, DemonEstablished Wiradjuri writer Anita Heiss worked collaboratively with the mainly Indigenous students of La Perouse school to create this fun, light hearted tale of Yirra’s struggle to train her aptly name dog, Demon.

Full of funny stories about Demon’s antics this one is sure to entertain. It follows Yirra and her school friends, her clashes with her siblings and ultimately her race to get Demon trained before her mum looses it once and for all ….

” ‘Yiiirrrraaaa!’ her mum starts yelling “

Hiding all of Paul’s left shoes, knocking over neighbours and poop all over the house …. Yirra’s got her work cut out if she wants to go on the school excursion.

This is a great book for those starting out on chapter book reading. The chapters are short and manageable with great illustrations by Adam Hill. The language is accessible and most of all its enjoyable and entertaining.
