Zoe and Beans: Zoe’s Christmas List

Zoe and Beans: Zoe's Christmas ListThe illustrations are gorgeous, the story well developed … and Zoe and Beans? Just cute! My Book Corner really enjoyed Zoe and Beans: Zoe’s Christmas List, the latest creation from father and daughter team Mick (Wibbly Pig, Kipper) and Chloe Inkpen.

Like many little girls Zoe has a very definite idea about what she wants for Christmas and to make sure Santa is very definite too she decides to deliver her letter in person, urm, to the North Pole. Zoe is accompanied by her ever faithful dog Beans. Cue an adventure involving icebergs, polar bears, ham & jam sandwiches and a great fold out section in the middle of the book!

With a fun adventure style story this charming picture book is great for those moving on to slightly more involved story lines – rescuing a polar bear, coping with a snow storm. Mick Inkpen captures the innocence of the childhood belief in Christmas magic – ‘well, of course I can go to the North Pole.’ And of course, the North Pole is a gorgeous red and white stripped, urm pole!

A warm and cosy feel to the illustrations together with the gentle humour make this picture book a delight in the run up to Christmas. A few subtle messages about determination, gifting and acceptance provide Zoe’s Christmas List with layers of meaning plus longevity.

Zoe and Beans: Zoe’s Christmas List is a featured title in Best Christmas Books For Children.
