Katja Spitzer’s How Many Legs? is a little gem of a counting picture book. Published by Flying Eye Books, you can be assured of its high quality – hardcover, beautifully thick pages and great print quality.
Spitzer’s vibrant images illustrate each of the numbers from 1 – 10, from 1 unicorn through to 10 quite colourful bugs. From here the book takes off on an interactive angle. A soft turquoise narrative on the left asks the readers’ quirky questions such as ‘How many stylish shoes?’ and ‘How many mischievous monkeys’ – the answer of course can be found by counting the accompanying illustrations on the opposite page.
Spitzer’s illustrations have a comforting retro vibe, both in design and her chosen colour palette.
