Mei Mei didn’t mean to break her Ama’s favourite cup!
She feels so badly about it, she’s tempted to run away BUT Ama doesn’t say anything and instead gives Mei Mei a slice of delicious cake.
Can Mei Mei let the cat, Mimi take the blame for breaking the cup when it was really her fault?
Convinced it’s the end of the world, Mei Mei hides, what will happen when Ama finds her?
I loved this story.
Everything from the font chosen for the text, to the language and the large, clear illustrations showcase how hard it is sometimes to do the most simple, and the right thing.

Appealing to both adult and child, this picture book deals with an everyday problem with a light-hearted touch, never underestimating the emotions involved. From the love shared by Mei Mei and her Ama, to her joy at playing with Mimi and the guilt of blaming the cat for something it hasn’t done, it’s easy to follow Mei Mei on her journey to deciding what she should do.
I liked the twist at the end too!
Another fabulous picture book from X. Fang!
