If you like your picture books with a bit of crazy,
great rhyming
and mind boggling illustrations,
then The Weasel Puffin Unicorn Baboon Pig Lobster Race is for you.
This is the most zaniest picture book, you’ll love it!
Think picture book meets Wacky Races and you’ve got an inkling re this one. Well, almost.
The most unusual collection of animals, (you saw that title right?), set off on an epic race. Several of them, in turn, get a bit discouraged and look for ‘a sneaky way to cheat’. Think raspberry canoes, chocolate submarines and coconut balloons – well, they’ve got to get ahead somehow.
Now, this is a children’s picture book so I don’t think I’ll be giving too much away it I tell you that honesty wins through in the end.
However this isn’t just a picture book intertwined around a moral. Your journey through the book is really focused on that wild and wacky race.
A race which is taken to a whole new level by Angus MacKinnon’s illustrations.
With race tracks almost as surreal as something Salvador Dali would produce, you’d be forgiven for getting a little lost along the way … it’s all part of the fun.
Did I mention that custard trampoline?!
Stylishly produced on satisfyingly thick matt pages, The Weasel Puffin Unicorn Baboon Pig Lobster Race, is a fun picture book with a refreshing new angle.
