Gary’s Banana Drama, is a picture book from Jane Massey full of joyful mayhem… and one or two bananas – or are they?!
When you really, really want something – a phone call, an important email – it’s downright impossible to forget about it. Right? We really felt for poor Gary, the gorilla.
Gary adores bananas, but one day something bad happens – there are NO more bananas. Fortunately Gary has an excellent plan. After trimming his toenails (loving Jane Massey’s humour!) he sets off – but things don’t quite go according to plan. Gary starts imagining bananas… EVERYWHERE. Dogs looks like bananas, toucans look like bananas – he gets into a few scraps.
The ending is wonderful fun, unique and quirky – just what picture books are made for, featuring a lovely big dollop of great imagination. So much fun!
Massey’s voice is fabulously bold and confident, as is her illustrative style which features rich coloured back drops to Gary’s antics.
