I’m Going to Eat This Ant is the deliciously funny debut picture book from author/illustrator Chris Naylor-Ballesteros.
This amusing anteater has “had enough of licking up wriggling, tickling, stinging, fighting, BITING ants” but there is no denying the fact that a) he’s hungry and b) he is an ANTeater.
What to do? Well, he spies a particularly delicious looking ant and imagines the most creative ways to serve said ant – so creative they’re likely to make those stern Masterchef experts sit up and take notice. And with a lovely creative touch Naylor-Ballesteros has ensured each of these begins with ‘s’ – rendering them quite wonderful to read out loud.
“Or maybe smoked with sardines, stir fried and sauteed?”
But whilst Anteater has been imagining ant in all sorts of tasty combinations, that little ant has been rather creative…
Alongside his amusing narrative are Naylor-Ballesteros’s wonderful illustrations – a fresh modern feel, with great sense of character.
