The Famishing Vanishing Mahoosive Mammoth

The Famishing Vanishing Mahoosive MammothThe Famishing Vanishing Mahoosive Mammoth is a great rollicking rhyming picture book from Hollie Hughes and Leigh Hodgkinson.

When a mahoosive mammoth wakes up one morning so hungry that he thinks he might vanish – his little friend Bug resolves to help him out. A banana, a tree and a lovely lunch are all given, but, after each one the mammoth declares,

‘I’m so famished, I’m vanishing!’

So mammoth decides to eat everything – from ice-creams to lamp posts. Nothing is safe! Poor Bug is worried that his friend’s tummy will go pop – so he decides to try distracting him instead. Surely if he’s having fun, he’ll forget about food … they have a gorgeous time. It seems friendship was just what was needed all along.

Hollie Hughes’s faultless rhyming verses contain lovely twists and turns as the story unfolds. Bug amd mammoth make for wonderful characters.

Leigh Hodgkingson’s illustrations has a wonderful eye for colour – that mahoosive orange mammoth is quite something!

The Famishing Vanishing Mahoosive Mammoth is a fun picture book about an unlikely friendship. Hughes and Hodgkinson make a great team!
